Senate Bill 1192 reported favorably and referred to Senate Ways and Means Responding in part to the tragic Quincy fire four years ago in which a father and his 2 sons died, due to a lack of a second egress in their illegal apartment, Senate Bill 1192 is making its way through the legislature. The bill, if passed in its present form, provides in part, “Any owner, occupant, lessee or other person having control or supervision of any building or structure, or representing that he has control or supervision of any building or structure, who, knowingly, recklessly or negligently, causes or allows said building to be illegally occupied, shall be punished by a fine of not more than $15,000 or by imprisonment in a house of correction for not more than 2 ½ years, or both.” To read Senate Bill 1192 go to: https://malegislature.gov/Bills/BillHtml/123689?generalCourtId=11
